Alan Fowler

Wits Business School (South Africa)

Alan Fowler is a pracademic. As a visiting professor at the Wits Business School, he is currently tasked with establishing a Chair in African Philanthropy. Over some forty years he has studied, published numerous books and papers about, and acted as an adviser to, a wide range of organisations dedicated to international development. He co-established the International NGO Training and Research Centre (INTRAC), served as elected president of the International Society for Third Sector Research (ISTR) and as a board member of Civicus, the World Alliance for Citizen Participation. He holds a DPhil and lives in South Africa.
